DESCRIPTION
The Economist
First published in London in 1843, The Economist is a weekly paper of news, analysis and commentary, covering business and the global political economy now read by more than 3.7M people around the world. Because of its independent and international editorial perspective, it is read by more of the world’s political and business leaders than any other magazine. The Economist is printed in six countries and published on the Internet, and has more than 80% of its circulation outside of the United Kingdom.
Editorial independence is at the heart of The Economist and its unbiased, objective presentation of facts, events and analysis is key to its continuing success. The constitution of the company does not permit any organization or individual to gain a majority share-holding. The editor is appointed by trustees who are independent of commercial, political and proprietorial influence. The principle of anonymity is also central to the paper’s philosophy. The Economist has no bylines, believing that what is written is more important than who writes it.
The Economist Group is the leading source of analysis on international business and world affairs. They deliver their information through a range of formats, from newspapers and magazines to conferences and electronic services. What ties The Economist Group together is the objectivity of their opinion, the originality of their insight and the advocacy of economic and political freedom around the world.
